ABOUT ME

Hi there,

Nice to meet you! :-)  My name is Sarina Engelbrecht and I’m a visual artist, using photography and videography as my storytelling mediums.  I am currently based in the beautiful karoo village of Nieu-Bethesda, South Africa.

My love for cameras and photography started when I received my very first “mik-en-druk” film camera for my 8th birthday. We were inseparable. Since then, photography has allowed me the art of observation and to fully express what I feel. I use it as a tool to capture the most beautiful, untouchable thing in the world - emotion. I am passionate about documenting special days or events, naturally, as it unfolds and telling their stories through my art.  The love, joy, laughter and tenderness between family and friends are impossible to reproduce and I therefore take great responsibility & delight in positioning myself to freeze these moments in time.

I have been in the media industry for the past 10 years where I have been involved in a range of activities from managing a video studio, managing my own media business to taking photos and filming for domestic, broadcast and corporate sectors.  My recent projects include Director of Photography (DOP) and camera roles for Avulikele Amasango (2015) and Christmas Special (2016), documentaries both  produced for SABC 2.

I relocated to Nieu-Bethesda in 2014 and decided to focus on more personal projects like weddings, maternity and family photographs. I have been activeley involved at

Die Waenhuis, a wedding & function venue in Nieu-Bethesda, documenting their weddings for their portfolio, as well as partnering up with karoo creatives for set & style type shoots.

Why do I love weddings?  Because they are personal, emotional and I get the opportunity to
deliver your story as everlasting art.

I look forward to meeting you and would be honoured to capture your special day or event!

Kind Regards

Sarina
